Hidden In Plain Sight
Confederate Flag, Acrylic paint
2019
Hidden in plain sight is an acrylic painting on a confederate flag disgusting as a typical American flag. When displayed on a flagpole, the confederate stiching design is almost completely unrecognizable. The purpose of this painting is to reward the viewer who decides to take a closer look. The repainted flag is a comparison of the American society and educational system. Racism is still here and hidden in plain sight. For those who are privileged enough not to experience it, after taking a closer look and educating themselves, they are more likely to understand, sympathize and fight against injustice.
