Still Lynching in 2018

“Still Lynching in 2018” is a series of photographs where the “A BLACK MAN WAS SHOT” flag is being held up in multiple Louisville, Ky. locations. The flag is a acrylic painting over an American flag and is a recreation of NAACP’s “A MAN WAS LYNCHED” flag that hung on Fifth Avenue, New York City in 1936.
The first photograph was taken infront of the John B. Castlesman Monument. The monument has been vandalized by Louisville, Ky. citizens on multiple occasions because the statue is of a Conferate soilder. There has also been “Black Lives Matter” protest surrounding the monument so that it would be removed in 2017 but is still standing now.
